What to buy: Monster rooms or Gold-producing rooms?

This week, we have two choices: the brand-new Monster rooms and 30% off the gold-producing rooms.

Which should I spend my M$ and gold on, I wonder?

The Broomstick room is the cheapest of the new Monster rooms, at M$35,000,000. It pays out M$500,000 and 5,000 experience points every 6 hours. However, it takes up a fair amount of space: 6 squares of your hotel. The average yield for this room is M$13,888.89 and 138.89 XP per square, per hour.

The Full Moon room costs 80 million M$ and pays out M$1,041,667 and 10,000 experience points every 5 hours. This one is an even bigger space hog - it takes up 8 squares in a hotel! That brings down the average yield to 26,041.67 and 250 XP per square per hour.

The Ghastly Chains room will set you back 1,050 gold bars: it has the smallest footprint of all the Monster rooms, though, taking up just 2 squares! The yield? Not so great: M$16,875,000 and 60,000 experience points every 45 hours.
Average yield? M$187,500 and 666.67 XP per square per hour.

And finally, we have the priciest of the Monster rooms: the Slimy Trident room costs a whopping 3,200 gold bars - is that the most expensive gold room we have right now? I believe it just might be! It pays out M$57,500,000 and 350,000 experience points every 2 days and 21 hours, while taking up 6 squares of a hotel, taking the average yield down to M$138,888.89 and 845.41 XP per square, per hour.

I would argue that, for the price, you are better off picking up one of the gold-producing rooms. Not the Golden Touch room, which I still believe is outrageously priced for only paying out a single gold bar every day, but any of the other gold producing rooms: the Gold Mine, Golden Cauldron, or the Golden Treasure.

Of course, if you've been playing since February, you probably have all the rooms anyway: in that case, definitely stock up on the Hallowe'en rooms and add the new characters to your Guest Book!
