SALE! 50% OFF Rooms you buy with Gold!

There we go.

It's true.

Rooms you buy with gold are again 50% off.

It seems to happen occasionally - and this time, it includes even the rooms that produce gold, not just the ones that cost gold to buy and then produce M$ for rent.

Both Guest Rooms and Attractions are on sale, but not Decorations. If you want decorations, hold off until those go on sale ... in the meantime, pick up the rooms that will generate something interesting in rent, or at least will perk up your Guest Book.

There are buy-for-gold rooms in all the "specialty" properties, too: the Aquarium, Zoo and Museum all have half-price gold rooms right now.

And in the Tennessee Zoo, we have these ...

And finally, in the Ventnor Museum:

Bottom line? You have a TON of choices of gold rooms right now - it just depends on what stage you are in the Monopoly Hotels game and how much gold you already have saved up (or purchased) or can save up before the sale ends.

If you're new to the game, then you can easily earn enough gold from the sticker book to pick up a few of the cheaper gold rooms, like, say, the Golden Mine Cart room, which is now only 26 gold bars and will produce 1 gold bar in rent every 2 days and 21 hours.

If you've been playing for several months, chances are you have a fair amount of gold saved up, despite the occasional unintentional spend of a few (or more than a few!) gold bars when you double-tap on a room "in progress" and it decides to swipe some gold to complete the progress of that room.

If you DO have some gold sitting around, you are spoiled for choice right now.

There are some *very* tempting rooms at 50% off ... the Neanderthal and Volcanoes rooms in the Ventnor Museum are fabulous for yield - the Volcanoes is about twice the yield of the Neanderthal, but costs almost 5 times as much; in the Vermont Aquarium, you have the gold-producing Golden Treasure Room - 4 gold every ten hours is nothing to sneeze at, especially if you cannot check the game very frequently and so rarely roll doubles for the Community Chest cards.

For the Tennessee Zoo, I have to admit, even at half price, there's really nothing to write home about, but this is a nice chance to fill up your Guest Book with habitats/guests you normally wouldn't even consider.

Among the Guest Rooms, there are definitely tempting choices: the Rescue Buoy Room is only 425 gold right now (yields a million M$ every 3 hours, and only takes up 2 squares), or you could consider the Piano Room, which also yields M$1,000,000 every three hours - it takes up 4 squares but only costs 175 gold right now, so it is definitely one of the most affordable million-dollar-producing rooms right now.

The cheapest million-dollar-producing room, of course, is the Barbell room at 75 gold - it only takes up 2 squares and pays out M$1,000,000 every 12 hours. Not bad for such a reasonable investment (most of the M$1,000,000 producing rooms are out-of-reach for beginners, not this one!)

If you're on the hunt for gold-producing rooms, then you'll be torn between the Golden Treasure Room in the Aquarium and the Golden Cauldron in regular hotels ... the Golden Treasure room only produces 4 gold every 10 hours compared to the 10 gold every 7 hours of the Golden Cauldron, but it also costs *much* less, 391 gold bars as opposed to 1,000 gold bars.

So there you have it. This is a nice weekly special from Electronic Arts, and I know I am not the only one who's been saving up in hopes of such a sale. I am still a little short of the gold required to buy my first Flute Room, but hopefully I'll manage to save up enough to buy one before the sale ends. If not, I guess I'll at least grab one of the Golden Treasure rooms so that my *next* attempt will go a little quicker!

Of course, rooms that you pay gold to purchase do NOT require additional gold or M$ to build, so this is truly a half-price sale ... you don't speed up the build/paint time, but you definitely get more bang for your purchase buck!

Enjoy your gold rooms!
