12 Days of Christmas: Day 1 update: Big Ben, Festive Candy Canes, Silver Snowflakes

Here we have the first day of goodies from EA.

It's not a mega sale.

Instead, we have a new attraction: Big Ben. And two new decorations: Festive Candy Canes and Silver Snowflakes.

Of course, because these are all attractions and decorations, you can build them in any of the regular hotels. Not in the Museum or the Zoo or the Aquarium (and not in the Railroad or the Electric Works), but pretty much any other property.

Up there is the Big Ben attraction.

Dean is now apparently in London, still studying his silly map instead of looking at the gorgeous architecture all around him!

Big Ben costs 1,950 gold, takes up 8 squares in your hotel, and pays out M$79,166,667 and 150,000XP every 38 hours. Which averages out to ... M$260,416.67 and 493.42XP per square, per hour.

Not exactly awful, but really nothing to get all excited over. For the price, I'd say hold off until this one goes on sale if you absolutely, positively must have it!

I'm expecting that at some future date, we may get a sticker wherein we have to build several of these Dean-around-the-world attractions in the same hotel. But that may be yet another completely skewed prediction, so please don't take me seriously!

In addition to Dean in London, we also have the two new winter-themed decorations: the Festive Candy Canes and the Silver Snowflakes. Each costs 50 gold. And will pay you 100XP one time, when you built it.

Again, not really a great investment ... if you have 100 gold just sitting around, you may want to wait for the next half-price sale on gold rooms and pick up a couple of Neanderthals in the Museum instead: those pay out some M$312,500 per square every 6 hours! Or save up a little more and buy a Piano room at half price - that will earn you a million M$ every 3 hours!

All in all, I'm happy to see new attractions and decorations without any major glitches in the game. Well, any *new* glitches. It doesn't look like they've managed to fix the existing issue with people losing rooms - I saw more complaints about "lost all my rooms" today on the Monopoly Hotels' FB page.

Back to the updates: in a nutshell, because these new attractions/decorations are all gold purchases, I'm going to hold off: gold is still too precious to spend without due consideration!

I'm hanging on to my savings for now ... nothing here really screams "BUY ME!"
